Swept in two sets by Steelville Thursday, Evin Farris’ Belle Lady Tiger volleyball team did not have to wait long to bounce back from the loss.

Hosting their annual volleyball Saturday at Belle High School and Bland Middle School, Farris’ varsity Lady Tigers ended their day with a familiar foe.

Defeating Bourbon last Tuesday in three sets, Belle matched up once again with the Lady Warhawks in the third-place match at Belle High School.

Winning both sets by scores of 25-17 and 25-17, Belle kept the third-place plaque and medals in Maries County.

Centralia claimed consolation honors defeating North Callaway in two sets, 25-18 and 25-16 while Eugene needed three sets to defeat Linn in the championship match.

Starting their Saturday bright and early at 8 a.m., Belle took on Dixon to kick off volleyball in the red pool at Belle High School.

Serving the first six points and the last six points of game one, Maddie Rohrer helped the host Lady Tigers tame their Highway 28 neighbors to the west 25-9.

Leading 8-5 in game two, a Hali Naber kill sent senior Grace Busch behind the serving line.

Serving the next 14 points, Busch helped Belle sweep Dixon taking both sets 25-9 and 25-8.

Sitting out the next two pool matches, Farris’ Lady Tigers returned to action in the red pool taking on North Callaway’s Lady Thunderbirds.

Falling behind 3-0 early in game one, Belle scored 13 of the next 17 points to grab a 13-7 lead thanks to service runs from Olivia Sanders and Naber.

Seeing their lead cut to 13-11, a North Callaway service error sent Rohrer back to serving duty.

Serving the next four points, Belle now had an 18-11 lead.

Two points later, Kenzi Cetroute started a string of six straight service points giving the Lady Tigers a 25-12 win in the first set.

Cetroute had another run of six straight service points in game two of Belle’s pool match against North Callaway helping them take game two 25-11 sweeping the Lady Thunderbirds.

Now 4-0 in pool play, the final pool match of the day between Belle and Eugene would decide who went to the championship match and who would drop to the third-place match.

Game one saw Belle tie the score at 4-4 on a Busch service points before the Lady Eagles scored 11 of the next 14 points going on to hand Belle a 25-11 setback in game one.

Looking to split the match, Belle jumped out to an early 3-1 lead in game two behind two service points from Rohrer.

Thanks to an Olivia Sanders kill and two Sanders’ service points, the Lady Tigers were able to stretch their lead to 7-3.

Surrendering six of the next seven points, Belle trailed the rest of the set before falling to Eugene 25-17 in game two.

In the match prior to that, North Callaway split with Dixon falling 25-23 in game one before taking game two 25-17 to advance to the consolation championship match on the head-to-head point differential tiebreaker.

Black pool action at Bland Middle School saw Linn sweep Bourbon, Centralia and Russellville to win the pool finishing 6-0.

Bourbon swept Russellville and split with Centralia to finish 3-3 advancing them to the third-place match.

Centralia’s split with Russellville helped the Lady Panthers advance to the consolation championship match with a head-to-head point differential of plus four.

Belle’s final home volleyball match of the season at BHS will be Tuesday, Oct. 22 against Dixon.
