Belle man arrested for assault, charged, released on $50K bond

BELLE — An assault last Friday led to one arrest and charges against four local individuals.

Dylan Kinsey, 21, of Belle, was arrested after 1 a.m. on July 4 and has been charged with first-degree assault, a class A felony, by Maries County Prosecutor Tony Skouby.

He was held in the Maries County Jail until Tuesday morning.

According to a report from the Maries County Sheriff’s Office, Kinsey was at a pool tournament at a local business in Belle on July 3  when he heard someone had hit his cousin the previous weekend. A female suspect, identified as Madison Ridenhour, 21, of Belle, told Kinsey where the alleged attacker lived and that she had a key to his apartment.

Kinsey, Ridenhour, and two other males, went to the apartment where Ridenhour opened the door and allowed Kinsey access.

The two males that accompanied Kinsey said they were there attempting to “talk Kinsey out of it.” One male remained outside and the other went in with Kinsey and Ridenhour, attempting to talk the former into leaving.

Kinsey woke the victim and began hitting him, breaking his nose and inflicting numerous cuts and scrapes on his head, arms and neck while Ridenhour encouraged Kinsey to continue the assault, investigators allege.

The victim fled during the assault and was chased. He crashed through the storm door, where the glass pane cut his neck — one-and-a-half inches wide and deep enough to go through muscle and tendon.

Maries County Sheriff’s deputies responded to the early morning call on July 4 to Maries County Road 309 for a reported assault with serious injuries and found the victim covered in blood with a large pool of blood in the center of his shirt.

The victim was conscious and alert enough to report that multiple subjects had come into his bedroom. The victim and his girlfriend  identified Kinsey, one other male, and Ridenhour, as the subjects that had come into his home. Kinsey reportedly admitted the assault. The two males also gave evidence to being there and what Kinsey did.

Ridenhour has been charged with first-degree assault, a class B felony, and a warrant was issued for her arrest from Maries County on July 4. She was arrested July 5. The other two males were issued a court summons for disorderly conduct.

Maries County Sheriff Chris Heitman said Monday that the victim was still in residence at Phelps Health in Rolla as of Sunday afternoon. He was transported to Columbia Hospital on Monday to undergo surgery before being released.

“I understand why the assault took place, but that doesn’t justify the suspect’s actions,” Heitman said. “He is still in jail now.”

Kinsey went before Judge Kerry G. Rowden Tuesday morning, where he made his $50,000 bond around 11 a.m. and was released. Kinsey will be mailed a notice for the next court hearing. No court date had been set as of deadline on Tuesday.
