Heartland Regional Library System Director Lisa Garro has worked with the Belle High School Librarian to create drive-thru stories in Belle and a Storywalk in Vienna.
Garro said BHS Librarian Kassie Mauer and the Belle FCCLA Chapter have created a drive-thru story at the Belle City Park. The drive-thru features the picture books, The Little Mouse, the Red Rip Strawberry, and the Big Hungry Bear by Don Wood. People are encouraged to drive or walk through the park and read the story as they move along.
Garro is working on a Storywalk in Vienna at the popular walking trail at the city park, Tackett Trail. She plans to laminate story boards and will begin with the story, Crazy Hair Day by Barney Salzberg. in conjunction with Kassie Mauer, Belle High School Library, and the Belle FCCLA Chapter, have created a drive-thru story at the Belle City Park featuring the picture book, The Little Mouse, the Red Ripe Strawberry, and the Big Hungry Bear by Don Wood. Feel free to drive (or walk) through the park and read the story as you move along. Also, at the Vienna City Tackett Walking Trail, we will soon have a story walk ready featuring, Crazy Hair Day by Barney Saltzberg.
Garro plans to establish something similar in Miller County as well.
“What a fun way to read, exercise, and safely practice self distancing all at the same time,” she commented.
