Seeing their junior varsity counterparts defeat Chamois earlier in the day, Tim Evans’ Belle varsity Tigers looked to defend their home court Saturday during homecoming against the Pirates.

Unable to overcome an eight-point second quarter, Belle came up on the short end of a 69-56 final score.

Senior Eddy Paz led the Tigers with a team-high 23 points and five rebounds.

Jat Ridenhour followed with nine points and six rebounds to go along with eight points each from Colten Robinson and Brett Stewart.

Gentry Dunn chipped in six points while Lane Feeler rounded out the Belle scoring with five points.

Closing out the 2019 portion of their season, Belle will host Russellville on Friday, Dec. 20 looking to snap a three-game losing streak.

Monday’s game at Stoutland and last night’s (Tuesday) home game with Fatima were both cancelled due to the weather with no make-up dates available by press time.

Behind 23 points from Thomas Lingo, Jacob Walton’s Belle JV Tigers held off a late Chamois run for a 55-50 victory in the opening game of Saturday’s tripleheader.

Shane Baumgartner just missed double digits with nine points followed by eight markers each from Justin Lingo and Brandon Ostertag.

In the middle game of Saturday’s tripleheader, Evin Farris’ Belle Lady Tigers took on Chamois’ Lady Pirates.

Nursing a 19-15 halftime lead, Belle was outscored 31-21 in the second half ending up on the short end of a 46-40 final score.

Reaching 1,000 points for her high school career in the first quarter, Belle junior post player Halle Smith finished with a game-high 29 points for the Lady Tigers in a losing cause.

Grace Busch just missed double figures with eight points followed by two points from Erin Schalk and a first-quarter free throw from Hali Naber for one point.

Scheduled to host Calvary Lutheran Monday night, Belle saw that game cancelled due to winter weather with a reschedule date currently being worked on.

Belle’s Lady Tigers will close the 2019 portion of their season on Friday, Dec. 20 hosting Russellville as part of a tripleheader kicking off at 5 p.m., with junior-varsity boys action at Belle High School.
