BES student tests positive for COVID-19

Entire classroom quarantined for 14 days

In an email Friday, Belle Elementary School notified Maries County R-2 families that a student has tested positive for COVID-19 and an entire classroom has been quarantined in accordance with health department guidelines.
The announcement follows:

"Dear Maries Co. R 2 Families,

We have been notified by the Phelps-Maries County Health Department that a student at Belle Elementary has tested positive for COVID-19. In accordance with guidelines from the Health Department, we have been advised that the entire classroom will be quarantined for 14 days. Any students or staff who had direct contact with this student have been or will be contacted by the health department. A full building closure is not necessary at this time.

No further action is required at this time if you are not contacted by the health department, but as always it is best to monitor your child for symptoms and if they exhibit any of the COVID-19 symptoms keep your child home, notify the school and contact your personal health provider. If you have not been contacted by the Health Department, your child was not considered at risk as a result of this case. This case is not connected to the previous positive COVID-19 patient.

Please monitor your child for symptoms which include cough, shortness of breath, new loss of taste or smell, fever, chills, headache, muscle ache, sore throat, congestion, nausea or diarrhea and keep your child at home if they have these symptoms.

Students who are in need of technology while they are in quarantine should contact the school district for a computer pick-up. Take-out meals will also be available through our Food Service. Please contact the school district for information about free breakfast and lunch.
