Bettie R. Green, 96, of Belle, passed away Monday, Oct. 23, 2023, at Gasconade Manor in Owensville.

She was born Oct. 3, 1927, a daughter to the late Frank V. and Bertha L. (Mantle) Butler in Linn.

Bettie was a lifelong area resident and attended Belle High School. She attended the R.L.D.S. Church in Belle before its closure.

She was united in marriage to Uel Alva Green, March 19, 1944, at the courthouse in Linn. Uel preceded her in death on Sept. 16, 1999.

Bettie was employed at the International Shoe Factory in Belle for 31 1/2 years before retiring. After retirement, she, along with Uel, enjoyed spending time at the clubhouse on the Gasconade where they would fish and boat, taking trips out west with their family, and going to auctions and garage sales to collect antiques. Bettie liked to keep a clean and tidy house and enjoyed cooking. Her beef and homemade noodles were famous among those who had the pleasure to enjoy them. She liked visiting with friends and family and told many stories of her life through her 96 years on earth. Her best times came from time spent with her family and especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Bettie will be greatly missed by those that knew and loved her.

She was preceded in death by parents, Frank and Bertha; husband Uel; son, Harold Green; and siblings, Shirley Stough, Pearl Prenger, Ervin Butler, Vic Butler, Ruby Redden, Voyd Butler, Donnie Butler and Billy Butler.

Bettie is survived by son, Burley Green and wife Tammy of Owensville; daughter-in-law, Debbie Green of Gasconade; brother, Robert “Pete” Butler of Vichy; grandchildren, Lisa Leathers and husband Randon, John Green and wife Macie, Chris Branson and wife Cathrine, Danny Branson and wife Megan, Julie Jackson and husband Christopher, and Jena Kontz and husband Greg; great-grandchildren, Rhad, Reese, Mila, Gus, Coraline, Max, Maggie, James, Daniel, Elisabeth, Rebecca and Andrew; as well as many extended family members and friends.

Funeral services for Betty were held Thursday, Oct. 26, at the Church of Jesus Christ Belle Restoration Branch, Belle, with Greg Kontz officiating. Interment was in Countryside Memorial Gardens near Bland.
