OWENSVILLE — Ending their season last Tuesday at the Owensville Cross Country Invitational, Bland’s Bears and Lady Bears nearly left eastern Gasconade County with medals.
Starting with the middle school girls, two Lady Bears finished within seconds of the top 10 and the medals.
Six seconds out of the top 10, Tajel McDaniel posted an 11th-place time of 15:51.98. Ava Feeler followed McDaniel with a 12th-place time of 16:19.28.
Bland’s third-and-final Lady Bear to cross the finish line in Owensville was Cylee Reed posting a 23rd-place time of 17:04.95.
Ending the middle school portion of racing, Jacob Walton’s Bland’s Bears came within a minute of having a medalist of their own in the top 10.
Pacing Bland’s foursome of runners in the middle school boys race seventh-grader Garrett Gehlert finishing 18th in a time of 14:38.90.
Bland’s next finisher in Owensville was Hank Stratman with a 38th-place time of 16:24.84.
Landon Finn just missed the top 50 with a 51st-place time of 17:49.14 while Kaegan Kinsey finished 53rd with a time of 18:39.11.
Belle Cross Country will conclude their regular season Friday afternoon at 2 p.m., at Bourbon High School in the Gasconade Valley Conference (GVC) Cross Country Meet
