Michael D. Tungate, 31, Belle, charged Aug. 18 with three felonies alleging sexual abuse of a child, appeared in custody Tuesday morning before Maries County Associate Circuit Judge Kerry G. Rowden.

Rowden set Tungate’s bond at $500,000 cash or surety and scheduled a case review at 10 a.m. on Sept. 1 to determine if Tungate has a lawyer to represent him. A preliminary hearing will be set at a later date.

Tungate is charged with two separate unclassified felony counts alleging both first-degree statutory rape and first-degree statutory sodomy. He is also charged with the class A felony alleging child kidnapping, a B felony count of delivery of a controlled substance, and the E felony of sexual misconduct involving a child.

Tungate was due to appear before Rowden on Sept. 8 in Maries County for a separate case where he is being charged with one first-degree, class D felony count of tampering with a motor vehicle.
