VIENNA — Ryan C. Hutchison, 29, of Armstrong, was charged on Tuesday by the Maries County Prosecuting Attorney with five felony charges of burglary, stealing and property damage as two trucks and other parts, equipment and tools were stolen from Weidinger Chevrolet over the weekend.

Prosecutor Anthony “Tony” Skouby charged Hutchison with second degree burglary, a class D felony, two counts of stealing—motor vehicle/watercraft/aircraft and prior stealing offender, a class B felony. He also was charged with stealing $750 or more, a class B felony, and first degree property damage, a class E felony.

Hutchison, a convicted felon, was arrested by officers of the Vienna Police Department and the Maries County Sheriff’s Office on Tuesday. He was found in a barn by the Highway 63 MoDOT building in Vienna. Law enforcement officials said he is suspected of breaking into at least 12 places off of MCR 325 and additional charges are anticipated.

A sheriff’s deputy on July 21 attempted to contact Hutchison at a travel trailer parked at 32752 Highway 42 West, Vienna, and Hutchison fled on foot, according to court documents. At that address, law enforcement located two trucks (Chevrolet 2019 and Chevrolet 2018) registered and identified as belonging to Weidinger Chevrolet. The investigation found evidence of a rear entrance door at the Chevrolet dealership that had been pried open and also items missing from the inside of the building.

During the search of the travel trailer, a black plastic box containing vehicle titles and keys assigned to Weidinger Chevrolet was found as well as a laptop computer “Thinkpad.” In the exterior storage area of the travel trailer, law enforcement officers located a battery charger, a jump starter with the Weidinger logo, three diagnostic kits and a refrigerant detector. These were identified as stolen by a representative of the dealership.

Hutchison was in court on Tuesday dressed in the Maries County Jail’s orange jumpsuit and in handcuffs and ankle cuffs on the June 20, 2019 charges of felony passing a bad check, fraudulent use of a credit device, and misdemeanor stealing with a case review set for Aug. 6 on those charges.
