COVID-19 delays start of season for Belle basketball

Posted

As of Monday, both the Belle Lady Tiger and Belle Tiger basketball teams were in quarantine due to COVID-19.

This means their regular seasons will not start as scheduled.

Last night (Tuesday), both teams were scheduled to participate in preseason hoops jamborees.

Chris Feeler’s Belle Tigers were scheduled to host Vienna’s Eagles and Stoutland’s Tigers in a three-team jamboree at Belle High School before the host squad had to go into quarantine as of Monday.

Evin Farris’ Lady Tigers were also scheduled to travel to Eugene last night (Tuesday) for a jamboree. Their participation in that was canceled when they went into quarantine last week.

Able to get their red and white scrimmage in Friday night, Feeler’s Tigers will have to wait until December to open their season.

For the time being, their home game on Tuesday, Nov. 24 against New Haven has been postponed to a date yet to be determined as of press time.

Belle boys basketball is now scheduled to open their season on Thursday, Dec. 3 at home against Maranatha Christian School starting at 5:30 p.m.

For Farris’ Lady Tigers, they are tentatively scheduled to open their season on Monday, Nov. 30 hosting Steelville’s Lady Cardinals in Gasconade Valley Conference (GVC) action starting at 5:30 p.m.

They were supposed to open their season on Friday, Nov. 20 in a Highway 28 showdown at Dixon in addition to their first home game of the season on Monday, Nov. 23 against Richland.

Both of those games are postponed pending make-up dates.

A freshman and junior varsity boys doubleheader scheduled for Saturday, Nov. 21 at home against Linn has also been postponed to a later date.
