Daniel Keith Borgmeyer, 79, recently of Sarasota, Fla., and Hendersonville, N.C., passed away Jan. 14, 2024, after a courageous three-year battle against ALS.

He was born born Sept. 19, 1944, to Lambert and Mary Agnes (Walsh) Borgmeyer in Meta.

Dan graduated from Fatima High School in 1962, and joined the U.S. Navy at age 17, as a “kiddie cruiser” during the Vietnam era. He served from 1962–66 assigned to Fighter Squadron 92 on the USS Ranger and the USS Enterprise Aircraft Carriers as a Fighter Control Technician to maintain radar systems in F-4 Phantom aircraft.

The Navy prepared Dan for employment at McDonnell Douglas Corporation in St. Louis. His strong work ethic positioned him for transfers to management roles with companies such as Paradyne, Lucent Technologies, and Cisco Systems.

Dan is preceded in death by parents,  Lambert and Mary; daughters, Chris (Borgmeyer) Cown and Kim Borgmeyer; sisters, Mary Beth Borgmeyer and Nancy (Borgmeyer) Zimmer (Vernon); and brothers, Jim (Connie) Borgmeyer, Bob (Tina) Borgmeyer, and Jerry (Cassie) Borgmeyer.

Dan is survived by wife of 31 years, Pauline Williams; son, Brian Borgmeyer; four grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; sister, Dot Grotemeyer; brothers, Larry Borgmeyer and Gary (Chris) Borgmeyer; and sister-in-law, Susan (Williams) Jewett (Chan Sweetser).

Visitation will be Saturday, January 20, from 10–11 a.m., at St. Cecilia Catholic Church in Meta with a Mass of Christian Burial immediately following at 11 a.m.

A Celebration of Life for Daniel Borgmeyer will be held at a future date in Sarasota, Fla.
