A week away from Vienna City Park.

That is what awaits Dakota Mason’s Vienna Eagle baseball team this week.

Starting things off Monday night in Otterville against their Eagles, Vienna broke a 2-2 tie after three innings with 12 unanswered runs en route to a 14-2 victory in six innings.

Down 1-0 after an inning, Vienna got their zero off the scoreboard in the top of the third inning.

Duncan Wilkinson led the frame off with a walk before stealing second and taking third base on a fly out off the bat of Troy Wulff.

A two-out walk to Eli Hayes gave Eagle starting pitcher Waylon Lenning a chance to help his own cause.

He did exactly that with a two-out, two-RBI double to left field giving the visiting Eagles a 2-1 entering the bottom of the third inning.

Otterville answered with a run on a hit and an error in the home half of the third inning to knot the game at 2-2 moving to the top of the fourth.

With their walking shoes on, Vienna looked to add to their one-run lead.

Wilkinson, Gavin Schwartze and Hayes walked to load the bases with two outs.

During Lenning’s next at bat, Wilkinson scored on a wild pitch before Schwartze came around to score on an error.

A Lenning walk continued the Eagle two-out rally putting runners on the corners for Hunter Schwartze.

During Hunter’s at bat, Hayes scored on a passed ball before he lifted a RBI single to left field driving in Lenning for Vienna’s fourth run of the inning.

Now leading 6-2 after four frames, Vienna looked to do more damage in the top of the fifth inning.

Raymond Logan and Brett Welschmeyer singled to start the inning before taking second and third on an error.

Gavin Schwartze then walked to load the bases before Wulff delivered a RBI single.

A walk to Hayes forced in a run before two more Otterville errors helped Vienna to an 11-2 lead after five innings.

Another two-out rally helped Vienna add to their lead in the top of the sixth.

Walks to Gavin Schwartze and Wulff led to Hayes drilling a 3-run home run over the left-field fence giving Vienna their final margin of victory.

Pitching four innings, Lenning earned the win allowing two runs on four hits and two walks to go with two strikeouts.

Hayes reached base in all five of his plate appearances drawing four walks to go along with his aforementioned home run.

Lenning also drove in four runs on a hit and a walk.

During their 8-2 home win Friday over Stoutland, Wilkinson earned the win pitching six innings while allowing two unearned runs on two hits to go along with nine strikeouts.

Wulff and Wilkinson each had a team-high two hits against the Tigers while Welschmeyer scored a team-high two runs.

Last Thursday on the road at Calvary Lutheran against the host Lions, Vienna trailed 2-1 entering a do-or-die top of the seventh inning.

Hayes led the frame off with a walk.

After stealing second and third base, Zach Via and Logan walked to load the bases for Hunter Schwartze.

Down to their last two strikes, Hunter delivered a two-RBI single up the middle giving the visiting Eagles a 3-2 road victory.

Hayes pitched the final three innings earning the win in relief of starter Reid Nichols.

Allowing an unearned run on one hit, Hayes walked two batter while striking out five.

Weather permitting, Vienna is scheduled to face Crocker’s Lions on the road today (Wednesday) at 4:30 p.m.
