Eddie Lee Baker, 79, of Dixon, passed away Saturday, March 30, 2024, at his residence.

He was born Sept. 16, 1944, to Guy Earl and Mary Violet (Kelley) Baker in Dixon.

He was united in marriage to Wanda Lee Sherrell Oct. 28, 1972, in Dixon. 

Eddie accepted the Lord Jesus Christ as his personal Savior and followed Him in baptism early in life. Later, he rededicated his life at Santee Community Church, Dixon, where he was a faithful member at the time of his passing.

He was employed at Fort Leonard Wood in the commissary from 1966–70. He then transferred to Directorate of Logistics as a mechanic on heavy equipment from 1970–90. He then spent two years of employment in the Sports Complex before his retirement in Sept. of 1992. After his retirement he became a full time farmer.

He was preceded in death by parents, Guy and Violet; brothers, Kenneth Earl Baker, Ray Donal Baker and Jerry William Baker; and sister, Virginia Lea Jones.

He is survived by wife of 51 years, Wanda Baker of their home near Dixon; children, Bridgette Purcell and husband Boomer of Dixon, Deatte Helms and husband Andy of Crocker, and Jason Baker of Dixon; six grandchildren; and 12 great-grandchildren.

Funeral services were held Wednesday, April 3, at Birmingham-Martin Funeral Home, Dixon, with Pastor Shannon Perry officiating. Interment was in Seaton Cemetery, Dixon.
