Elda Jean Kraft, 76, Dixon, passed away Friday, Oct. 16, 2020, in the Capital Region Medical Center, Jefferson City.
She was born Oct. 14, 1944, to Rudolph and Vera (Grapp) Engel, at Charles City, Iowa.
She was united in marriage to John Merlin Kraft, Feb. 6, 1964, at Elk Point, S.D.
Elda grew up in Clarksville, Iowa, where she attended the Presbyterian Church. She was a 1963 graduate of Clarksville High School. She moved to Dixon with her family in 1987, where along with her family she owned and operated the Fox Crossing Store, near Dixon, for 33 years.
She was preceded in death by parents, Rudolph and Vera; husband, John; and brothers, Gallen and Lyle Engel.
She is survived by children, Mary Lynn Gosse of Jesup, Iowa, and Rudolph John “Rudy” Kraft and wife Tina of Iberia; brothers, Arlyn Engel and wife Mavis of Janesville, Iowa, and Terry Engel and wife Jolen of Clarksville, Iowa; sister, Vera Lee Kraft and husband Richard “Dick” of Clarksville, Iowa; and five grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
Funeral services were held Tuesday, Oct. 20, in Birmingham-Martin Funeral Home, Dixon, with Pastor Jack Caple of First Baptist Church, Dixon, officiating. Interment was in the Greenwood Cemetery, Nashua, Iowa. Memorial contributions suggested to the American Cancer Society.
