Faulkner brothers waive preliminary hearings

Posted

Chad Faulkner, 28, and Cody Faulkner, 30, both of Belle, last week waived their preliminary hearing in the Maries County Associate Circuit Court, Judge Kerry Rowden presiding, and were bound over to circuit court on felony charges. Cody Faulkner is charged with the class D felony of arson. Chad Faulkner is charged with the class D felony of arson, second degree and the class E felony of defrauding secured creditors.

Maries County Prosecuting Attorney Anthony “Tony” Skouby requested a special prosecutor because of potential conflict of interest. Judge Rowden ordered a special prosecutor be appointed. The two are set to appear before Judge John Beger later this month.

The brothers were arrested by the Maries County Sheriff’s Department Dec. 26 after warrants submitted by the State Fire Marshal’s Office prompted them to turn themselves in for allegedly setting fire on Dec. 19, 2019, to the younger Faulkner’s residence located in the 1100 block of Parkview Drive.

They were released Dec. 27 on their own recognizance.

The warrants gave both men a $5,000 bond each, which they did not pay, after the judge ordered their release.
