With Erik Logan’s departure to Cuba High School as their assistant principal, two current Maries County R-2 staff members will take over Logan’s duties as Co- Activities Director of the Maries County R-2 School District.
In this case, there will be one AD at Bland Middle School and another in Belle.
Approved unanimously at the Thursday, May 28 meeting of the Maries County R-2 Board of Education, current Bland Middle School (BMS) physical education teacher Meagan Fisher and Belle Elementary School (BES) Principal Vanessa Feeler were both named Co-Activities Directors for the district.
“This proposal has many positives and is organized in the hopes of bringing stability and growth for the Maries R-II sports programs,” Fisher and Feeler said in a joint email Monday.
Being a consolidated district, one of the challenges that have faced past AD’s is the need for game preparations to be carried out in Belle and Bland on the same evening and many times, similar start times.
“Having a dual AD position with two employees on different campuses would solve this difficulty,” Feeler and Fisher said.
Neither Fisher nor Feeler plan to leave their current job duties and would fulfill the role of AD in an after school position.
