The very popular priest of Visitation, Guardian Angels, St. Aloysius and St. Boniface parishes, also know has been reassigned by the bishop and will be serving the parishes in Hannibal and Palmyra.

According to The Catholic Missourian, Jefferson City Diocese Bishop W. Shawn McKnight, made several appointments that become effective July 1, 2020. Among them is the Reverend Matthew J. Flatley, from pastor of Visitation Parish in Vienna, Holy Guardian Angels Parish in Brinktown, and St. Aloysius Parish in Argyle, to pastor of Holy Family Parish in Hannibal and St. Joseph Parish in Palmyra and to continue as diocesan moderator of spiritual formation.

The Reverend Christopher M. Aubuchon, will return from temporary medical leave and from full-time diocesan director of vocations, part-time chaplain at Helias Catholic School and part-time parochial vicar at St. Thomas More Newman Center Parish in Columbia, to pastor of Visitation, Holy Guardian Angels and St. Aloysius parishes. He also will continue as diocesan director of seminarians.

Fr. Flatley made the announcement on his Facebook page late last week and received many warm and complimentary comments from members of his parishes and the community at large. Many of the comments wished him good luck in his new posting.

Fr. Flatley has been in Vienna and serving the “Holy Foursome” parishes since July 2013.
