Fredendall, Skaggs lead BMS track at Owensville

OWENSVILLE — Finish in the top six individually or in the top three for relays.

That was the goal last Thursday for Samantha Eads’ Bland Bear and Lady Bear track athletes during the annual Owensville Middle School (OMS) Relays.

Out of 12 scoring teams, Bland’s Bears placed eighth in the boys team standings with 36.5 points.

Starting the meet on the track, Bland’s boys 4x800-meter relay team of Coltin Hazelwood, Peyton Valley, Jackson Prater and David Skaggs posted a fourth-place time of 10:43.62.

Malachi Fredendall scored team points for Bland with a sixth-place time of 12.57 in the boys 100m dash.

Placing 10th in the boys 4x200m relay was the Bear foursome of Trevor Frey, Landon Storz, Connor LeRoux and Isaiah Spurgeon in a time of 2:09.31.

Dakota Stockton placed 21st with a time of 6:51.26 in the boys 1600m run.

Adding to his sixth-place finish in the boys 100m dash, Fredendall posted a third-place time of 1:00.11 in the boys 400m dash.

Taking 11th in the boys 4x100m relay for Bland was the Bear quartet of Alden Zabel, Weston Sadler, Diego Lansford and Spurgeon in a time of 1:00.18.

Skaggs (3rd, 2:28.56) and Valley (7th, 2:37.43) scored team points for the Bears in the boys 800m run.

Leading the Bear relay teams with a second-place time of 4:18.97 in the boys 4x400 relay was the quartet of Fredendall, Valley, Hazelwood and Skaggs.

Gauge Workman picked up a team point for Bland with an eighth-place leap of 4.61m in the boys long jump.

Brayden Gibson tied for seventh place in the boys shot put with a throw of 9.62m for the Bears.

Workman’s best finish on the track came in the boys 200m dash with a fifth-place time of 27.58.

Ryker Huebner placed 32nd in the boys 400m dash with a time of 1:35.48 while his brother Ryder took 35th in the 100m dash in 18.12.

Running against a competitive field of teams, Bland’s Lady Bears scored four team points to finish tied for 12th with Bourbon.

Ava Prater scored Bland’s first team point with an eighth-place time of 6:45.25 in the girls 1600m run.

Skylar Stevens (12th, 7:01.18) and Marianne Fuchs (19th, 7:42.26) also ran the mile for the Lady Bears.

Zoe Camden claimed Bland’s next team point with an eighth-place time of 1:13.96 in the girls 400m dash.

Ellie Gray placed 10th for the Lady Bears in the girls long jump with a mark of 3.71m.

Kaylee Hazelwood’s best finish for Bland came with an 11th-place mark of 18.76m in the girls discus.

Chloe Jones earned another Lady Bear team point with her eighth-place throw of 8.18m in the girls shot put.

Camden earned another team point with an eighth-place time of 31.22 in the girls 200m dash.

Taking 10th in the girls 4x200m relay with a time of 2:36.32 was the Lady Bear team of Maddy Rhoads, Allania Moore, Temperance Bray and Francis.

Sprinting to a 12th-place time of 1:06.88 in the girls 4x100m relay was the Lady Bear quartet of Faith Gromowski, Hayden Fann, Hazelwood and Smith.

Natalie Lansford posted her best finish at Owensville with a 14th-place time of 1:17.89 in the girls 400m dash.
