Gene Edward Dudley, 80, rural Dixon, passed away Friday, May 29, 2020, in SSM Health St. Mary’s Hospital, Jefferson City.

He was born Nov. 16, 1939, to Albert Harry and Lulubelle (Sweeney) Dudley, at St. Louis.

He was united in marriage to Nancy Gayle Davis, Dec. 25, 2000, at Vienna.

Gene was a 1957 graduate of Riverview Senior High School in St. Louis and a 1961 graduate of the University of Missouri — Columbia. He attended Vienna United Methodist Church and was a member of the National Rifle Association and the National Republican Club. He had  been employed by Southwestern Bell in St. Louis as a cost efficiency manager for 31 years prior to retiring and moving to St. Anthony where he operated an Angus ranch. He was a licensed EMT, served on the Iberia Volunteer Fire Department and after moving near Vienna was employed as a licensed paramedic at numerous ambulance districts until his full retirement.

He was preceded in death by parents, Albert and Lulubelle; and step-grandson, DeVon Walton.

He is survived by wife, Nancy, of the home; children, Jacqueline Nelson and husband Rocky of Stafford, Va., Sandra Walkup and husband Jerry of Eureka and Karen Dudley of Rolla; step-children, Shawn Davis and wife Hope of Fort Eustis, Va., Tabitha Scaggs of Dixon and Joshua Witcher and wife Autumn of Scott City; sister, Mary Lou Geeke of St. Louis; and five grandchildren, two step-grandchildren and one great-grandchild.

Funeral services were held Monday, June 1, in the Birmingham-Martin Funeral Home, Vienna, with Pastor Lynn Quist of Vienna United Methodist Church officiating. A private disposition was held by his family.
