Getting ready to have a safe election

Maries County Clerk Rhonda Rodgers and her staff have been busy preparing for the Tuesday, June 2 Municipal Election. They have taken extra precautions to keep poll workers and voters safe at the voting precinct sites.
The Missouri Secretary of State’s office provided supplies and equipment such as sanitizers, face masks, face shields and plexiglass shields to separate poll workers and voters safely.
Rodgers said the ink pens, tables and polling booths will be sanitized after each voter.
Voters also can come to the courthouse and vote absentee if they don’t feel comfortable going to the polls to vote on Tuesday.
There are local candidates for Belle City Council and the Maries R-1 and R-2 school boards. There is a R-1 bond issue, Proposition K.I.D.S., that asks voters to extend the debt service levy to pay for up to $2.5 million in safety, energy, and facility improvements at the school campus.
The June 2 election originally was the April 7 election that had to be rescheduled due to the shut down caused by the Covid-19 coronavirus.
All voters are urged to safely exercise their right to be heard through their vote.
