The Phelps-Maries Health Department is holding its second clinic for back to school immunizations and Maries County students are welcome at this clinic. Students entering kindergarten, 8th grade and 12 grade have mandatory immunizations they need to receive.
An immunization clinic already was held on Aug. 15. A second clinic will be held on Saturday, Aug. 29 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the health department’s office at 200 N Main Street in Rolla. Appointments are offered on a walk-in, first come first serve basis. The health department asked participants to bring Medicaid and/or primary insurance card and the student’s shot record. Minors must have a parent or guardian present.
Kindergarten students should have the following immunizations: diphtheria, tetanus and pertussis (DTaP) fifth dose, polio (IPV) fourth dose, measles, mumps and rubella (MMR) second dose, and chickenpox (Varicella) second dose.
Students entering 8th grade must have the immunizations of diphtheria, tetanus and pertussis (Tdap) and meningococcal disease (MCV4). Recommended immunizations are human papillomavirus (HPV) and hepatitis A.
Students entering 12th grade are required to have the immunization of meningococcal disease (MCV4) and the following immunizations are recommended: meningococcal disease group B (MenB), human papillomavirus (HPV), and hepatitis A.
