Hildegard M. Bax, 97, of Koeltztown, passed away peacefully Sunday, Oct. 22, 2023, at Westphalia Hills Care Center surrounded by her family.

She was born Aug. 8, 1926, a daughter of the late Martin and Bernadine (Bock) Brandt in Osage County.

She was united in marriage to Raymond Bax, Nov. 20, 1946, with whom she shared 53 wonderful years, he passed away June 7, 2000.

Hildegard attended Boes Country School near Linn. Before her marriage, she worked at Oberman Clothing Manufacturing Company. After her marriage, she was a wife, mother, homemaker, farmer and later in the years she adored and babysat her grandchildren. She was a dedicated, passionate Christian and was a member of St. Boniface Catholic Church in Koeltztown. She was also a member of the quilting circle and the Linn Historical Society. Hildegard loved spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by parents, Martin and Bernadine; husband, Raymond; brothers, Norbert and Mary Ellen Brandt, Roman Brandt and Marty and Mary Brandt; son-in-law, Larry Kempker; sisters-in-law, Loretta and Al Brandt and Betty Falter; and grandsons, Christopher and Bryan Kempker.

She is survived by children, Judy Kempker of Jefferson City, Linda Wieberg (Richard) of Freeburg, and Norbert Bax (Terry) of Jefferson City; sister, Sr. Regina Brandt of San Antonio, Texas; brother-in-law, Tony Falter of Columbia; sisters-in-law, Marie Haller of Vienna and Lorene Brandt of Jefferson City; grandchildren, Lisa Bax Hueste (Alan), Steve Kempker, Kevin Wieberg (Robin), Danny Bax (Lisa), Troy Wieberg (Sue), and Stacey Bryan (Sam); great-grandchildren, Whitney Hueste Kemper (Jacob), Taylor Hueste, Isaac, Courtney, Lorelei, Aubrey, Sophia, Raymond and Theodore Wieberg.

A Mass of Christian Burial was held Tuesday, Oct. 31, at St. Boniface Catholic Church in Koeltztown with Fr. Basil Tigga officiating. Hildegard was laid to rest at St. Boniface Catholic Church Cemetery.
