Jeff Donald Hooker, 87, Vienna, passed away Saturday, July 27, 2019, in the University of Missouri Hospital and Clinics, Columbia.

He was born Dec. 25, 1931, to Bill and Valier Lee (Womble) Hooker, at Antoine, Ark.

He was united in marriage to Rosemary Louise Hoelscher, Sept. 7, 1957, at St. Ann.

Jeff served in the U.S. Navy during the Korean Conflict. He served on the USS Hanna and was awarded and entitled to wear the National Defense Service Medal, the Good Conduct Medal, the United Nations Service Medal, the Korean Service Medal with three stars and the China Service Medal. During his working life, he had been a sign erector and an electrician prior to retirement in 1994 and moving to Vienna in 1995. He was a member of the IBEW Local 1, St. Louis, the Vienna-Coffey Brothers American Legion Post 12, and a charter member of the Tallahassee Hunting Club, Vienna.

He was preceded in death by parents, Bill and Valier; brother, Gene Hooker; and sister, Eulond Hooker.

He is survived by wife, Rosemary, of the home; daughters, Valier Igel and husband Marty and Phyllis MacConnell, all of St. Louis, and Joyce Hooker of Vienna; and five grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.

Visitation will be held (today) Wednesday, July 31, from 10-11 a.m. with funeral services following at 11 a.m., all in Birmingham-Martin Funeral Home, Vienna, with Rev. Karen Alden officiating. Interment with full military honors will be in the James Community Cemetery. Memorials suggested to the Alzheimer’s Association.
