Jimmie Ray Evans, 93, of Dixon, passed away Friday morning, Aug. 25, 2023, in the Dixon Nursing and Rehabilitation.
He was born Feb. 27, 1930, to Lloyd James and Blanche (Slone) Evans in Dixon.
He was united in marriage to Sue Ann Vernatti, Dec. 23, 1950, in the First Baptist Church, Dixon.
Jimmie was baptized early in life and was a member of the First Christian Church of Dixon since 1942. He was a U.S. Army veteran having served during the Korean Conflict in the 180th Infantry Regiment of the 45th Infantry Division from 1952–53, and a member of the Arlington Masonic Lodge Number 346, A.F. and A.M., Dixon since 1956.
Jimmie had worked at Ft. Leonard Wood Civil Service retiring in 1987.
He was preceded in death by parents, Lloyd and Blanche; brother, Donald Gene Evans; and sister, Dorothy Louise Evans.
He is survived by wife, Sue of the home in Dixon; children, Bruce Evans of St. Charles and Pam (Steve) Beltz of Springfield; sister, Ruth Ann DeLara of Joliet, Ill.; two grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.
Funeral services were held Tuesday, Aug. 29, in the Long-Kloeppel Funeral Chapel, Dixon, with Pastor Danny Bassett, Burnett Christian Church, officiating. Interment was in the Dixon Cemetery.
Memorials suggested to the Dixon Senior Center.
