Dr. Joe Ray Moore, DC, Barlow, Ky., 64, died Saturday, March 7, 2020.

He was born Nov. 27, 1955, to John L. and Ruby Jean Moore, in Cairo, Ill.

Joe Ray was a 1973 graduate of Ballard Memorial High School in Barlow, Ky., attended the University of Kentucky and was a 1981 graduate of Murray State University. He earned a Masters Degree from St. Louis University and earned a doctorate from Logan University in Chesterfield in 1992. Joe Ray worked as an RN for numerous years, primarily as the Neuro Intensive Care Charge Nurse for Saint Lukes West in St. Louis as well as serving as the Nurse Lobbyist for the Missouri Nursing Association. After a long career in nursing, he opened his chiropractic clinic in 1992 in Owensville until his retirement in December of 2018. He spent the last years of his life as a primary care giver of his mother. He was a founding member of the Barlow 5-O and a member of the Sigma Phi Epsilon fraternity of Murray State. He also served as Scoutmaster of Boy Scout Troop No. 66 of Barlow, Ky.

He is survived by mother, Ruby, of Barlow; brothers, Danny Moore and wife Barbara of Belle and David Moore and wife Laura of Dallas, Texas.

Visitation will be (today) Wednesday, March 11, from 5-8 p.m. with funeral services Thursday, March 12, at 11 a.m. with Rev. Stan Waldon officiating, all at Morrow Funeral Chapel in La Center, Ky. Interment will follow at Barlow Cemetery. Memorial contributions suggested to Barlow United Methodist Church Boy Scout Fund care of John Wood, Barlow, Ky., or the American Heart Association.
