John Earl Young, 89, Vienna, formerly of Indiana, passed away Tuesday, Feb. 25, 2020, at his residence.

He was born July 19, 1930, to Edna (Fawks) Young, at Marceline.

He was united in marriage to Nellie Lucille Henderson, April 15, 1954, at Columbia.

John was a U.S. Air Force veteran, had played trombone in Big Band, as was a past member of the American Legion in Indiana. He was employed by Illiana Antique Power Association, was a chemistry professor at St. Joseph College in Resselaer, Ind., and owned and operated several family businesses.

He was preceded in death by mother, Edna Scurlock; wife, Lucille; and daughters, Joann and Joy Young.

He is survived by son, Randall Young and wife Mei of Lakewood, Calif.; daughter, Janice Morgan and husband Chuck of Vienna; and one grandchild and three great-grandchildren.

Visitation will be (today) Wednesday, March 4, from 10-11 a.m. with funeral services following with Rev. Lynn Quist, Vienna United Methodist Church, officiating, all in the Birmingham-Martin Funeral Home, Vienna. Memorial contributions suggested to Vienna United Methodist Church.
