Johnny Ray Cox, age 59, of Springfield, formerly of Dixon, passed away Monday, March 18, 2024, at his residence.

He was born Jan. 6, 1965, to Raymond Lee and Alice Marie (Lampston) Cox in Waynesville.

Johnny entered active federal service in the U.S. Army Feb. 1, 1990, at Fort Jackson, S.C., and served until July 17, 1994, when he was honorably discharged at Fort Jackson, S.C., at the rank of Sergeant (E5).

He was a graduate of Dixon High School, and worked as a boat mechanic.

Johnny was preceded in death by father, Raymond Lee Cox.

He is survived by mother, Alice of the home near St. James, formerly of Dixon; brother, Roger Cox of Papillion, Neb.; and sisters, Tammy Cox of St. James, and Leasa Waters of Raytown.

Graveside services were held Tuesday, March 26, at the Missouri Veterans Cemetery, Waynesville, with Pastor Danny Bassett officiating.
