Joseph Lenard Thompson, 71, Belle, passed away Friday, Oct. 4, 2019, at his residence.

He was born July 21, 1948, to Cecil Ira and Marion Catherine (Keller) Thompson, in Belle.

He was united in marriage to Juanita Mae Cox, Jan. 17, 1971, at First Christian Church, Belle.

Joseph was a member of Rolla SDA Church. He was a 1966 Belle High School graduate. He served in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War from 1969-70 as a medical specialist. He received his associate degree in automotive technology mechanics from Linn State Technical College in 1973. After a full career on the farm, he retired from the dairy life in 2007.

He was preceded in death by parents, Cecil and Marion; son, Keith E. Thompson; sister, Lois Verl Harrison; sister-in-law, Dorothy Nell Cox; brothers-in-law, Risk Gayed and Kenny Rollins

He was survived by wife, Juanita; and is survived by daughters, Darla Schneider and husband Gary of Hermann and Karen Thompson of Jefferson City; son, Joseph L. Thompson of Belle; siblings, Carolyn Rollins of Cicero, Ind., Donna Caplinger and husband Mike of House Springs and Ira Thompson and wife Diana of Belle; sisters-in-law, Bobbie Jean Gayed of Lincoln, Neb., Mary Tipps and husband Bob of Midland, Texas and Oneta Lambert and husband Lee of Lincoln, Neb.; brother-in-law, Michael Harrison of Brush, Colo.; and four grandchildren.

Graveside services were Friday, Oct. 11, in the Francis Cemetery near Belle with Rodney Osborne officiating.
