Josephine Ann (Barnhart) Snodgrass, 88, of Vienna, was born Oct. 14, 1931, a second child of Isaac and Iva Barnhart, and passed away Wednesday, June 24, 2020, at St. Joseph’s Heisinger Bluffs in Jefferson City. She had been in failing health for several months.

She was united in marriage to Donald Snodgrass on June 18, 1950. The couple recently celebrated 70 years of marriage. They are the proud parents of four children and have been blessed with eight grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren.

Josephine attended grade school at Red School. She and her husband later purchased the property where the school still stands. She graduated from Vienna High School. She operated Jo’s Beauty Shop in her home for many years and was also a housewife. She was known for her delicious baking.

She was an active member of First Baptist Church in Vienna since its establishment. She volunteered countless hours at church for various events. She was also a member of Stickney Friendship Club.

She is preceded in death by her father, Isaac Barnhart on Jan. 19, 1988; mother, Iva Barnhart on Oct. 15, 1985; and sister, Erma Roberds on Jan. 12, 2018; brothers-in-law Cletus Roberds, Clarence Sandbothe and Delmar Snodgrass; sister-in-law Jerrilyn Snodgrass; and nephew Ronald Roberds.

Survivors include her husband of 70 years, Donald, of the home in Vienna; four children, Reggie and Becky Snodgrass of Rolla, Rustin and Pat Snodgrass of Steelville, Tracy and Kevin Kirksey of Lake Tapawingo and Craig and Nichoel Snodgrass of Belle. She is also survived by eight grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren, Lindsey and Kyle Lindstrom of Golden Valley, Minn.; Nathan and Katie Snodgrass and children Dylan and Cody of Sullivan; Lesley and Jonnie Wachtel and children Madison, Jameson, Colson and Isla of Columbia; Doug and Allison Snodgrass and children Jane and Theo of Chicago, Ill.; Melissa and Andy Lakers and children Alexis and Maddie of Ballwin; Jeff and Azin Snodgrass of Chicago, Ill.; Kyla Kirksey of Kansas City; and Gavin Snodgrass of Belle.

Other survivors include brothers and sisters-in-law Anna Snodgrass, Vivian Sandbothe, Velma and Wes Hayes, Bill and Melvena Snodgrass, Dennis Snodgrass, Dallas and Terry Snodgrass; and a host of other family and friends.

Visitation and funeral services were held Friday, June 26, and Saturday, June 27, in First Baptist Church, Vienna, with Rev. Robert D. Hodson officiating by Birmingham-Martin in Vienna.

Interment followed in the Vienna Cemetery under the direction of the Birmingham-Martin Funeral Home, Vienna. Pallbearers were Nathan Snodgrass, Doug Snodgrass, Jeff Snodgrass, Gavin Snodgrass, Rowdy Snodgrass, Andy Lakers, Jonnie Wachtel and Kyle Lindstrom. Honorary pallbearers are Lindsey Harlan-Lindstrom, Lesley Wachtel, Melissa Lakers, Kyla Kirksey, Katie Snodgrass, Allison Roche and Azin Eftekhan.
