Lady Tigers drop consolation title game at Eugene against Linn

Claiming round one of Maries County girls basketball bragging rights with a 59-45 victory over Vienna last Wednesday night, Evin Farris’ Belle Lady Tigers looked to leave Eugene’s Girls Basketball Tournament with hardware from the consolation championship game Friday night against the Highway 89 rivals to the north in Linn’s Lady Wildcats.

Unable to overcome scoreless first and fourth quarters, Belle suffered a 49-13 setback against their Osage County foes.

Miranda Sanders and Saige Garner each score six second-quarter points to lead the Lady Tigers in scoring against Linn.

Nevaeh Kinsey added a third-quarter free throw for one point to round out Belle’s scoring against Linn.

Kiana Hostetler led Linn with 16 points.

In their victory over Vienna last Wednesday, Anastyn Lansford led three Lady Tigers in double figures with 15 points to go along with a baker’s dozen (13) from Kinsey.

Natalie Gehlert rounded out the Belle double-digit scoring trio with 12 points.

Sanders connected on five of her seven points in the third quarter to go along with five points from Garner.

Victoria Busch chipped in four points while Ava Feeler hit a first-quarter 3-pointer for her three points against Vienna.

Belle will get another shot at Linn tomorrow (Thursday) night on the road in Osage County with a 6 p.m., tip time.
