Loretta Gayle “Lucy” McKinnon, 69, Dixon, passed away Thursday, Feb. 27, 2020, in SSM Health St. Mary’s Hospital, Jefferson City.
She was born Aug. 24, 1950, to James Harlan and Ruby Lucille (Jett) Acord, at Salt Lake City, Utah.
She was united in marriage to Charlie Dean McKinnon, July 30, 1983, at Dixon.
Lucy was a member of the Baptist faith and was baptized by Rev. Ray McClary in the Little Maries River near the old Cleveland School. She began her education at the Wheeler School in rural Maries County and was later a student of Dixon R-1 Schools. She had been employed Walmart of St. Robert for 17 years as the manager of the health and beauty aids department prior to her retirement in July, 2019.
She was preceded in death by parents, Jim and Ruby; and brother, Kenneth Virgil “Kenny” and wife Wanda Catheryn (Thompson) Acord.
She is survived by husband, Charlie, of the home; children, Jamie Acord of Dixon and Glen Dale “Petie” Acord of St. Robert; siblings, Dennis Acord and wife Judy of Jefferson City, Leona Rivera and husband Robert of Dixon, Rebecca “Becky” Bowser and husband Brian of Dixon, Robert Acord and wife Suzanne of Hartman, Ark., and Carol Blackard of Clarksville, Ark.; and two grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
Funeral services were held Tuesday, March 3, in the chapel of Birmingham-Martin Funeral Home, Dixon, with Rev. Louis Dunlap, pastor of Pisgah Baptist Church, near Dixon, officiating. Interment was in Wheeler Cemetery near Dixon. Memorial contributions suggested to Wheeler Cemetery Perpetual Care Fund.
