Maries County voters were interested in the Presidential Preference Primary Election on Tuesday, March 10 and come out to participate in their democracy. Total voter turnout was 21.66 percent as 1,318 of the county’s 6,084 registered voters made the trip to the polls.
Maries County Clerk Rhonda Rodgers said the day went very well and she was pleased with the number of voters who came out to have their voices heard.
A total of 760 voters cast a Republican ballot and President Donald J. Trump received 747 of those votes for 98.42 percent.
A total of 557 voters took a Democratic ballot. Joseph R. Biden won 343 or 61.69 percent of the votes. The next closest vote getter was Bernie Sanders who captured 176 votes or 31.65 percent.
One voter cast a Libertarian ballot, voting for Jacob Hornberger.
No voters took a Green or Constitutional ballot.
On Tuesday night, all voter precincts had brought their ballots and paperwork to the courthouse by 8 p.m. by the hard-working poll workers.
