Mark Lavern Pendleton, 87, Holts Summit, formerly of Iberia, passed away Monday, Oct. 12, 2020, at his residence.

He was born March 10, 1933, to Ray Wilson and Anna Ellen (Kehr) Pendleton, at Jefferson City.

He was united in marriage to Margie Bell Dake, Sept. 15, 1956, at Iberia.

Mark served in the U.S. Army during the Korean Conflict reaching the rank of Private First Class. He was awarded and entitled to wear the National Defense Service Medal, the United Nations Service Medal, the Korean Service Medal, and the Good Conduct Medal.

Mark was a member of Fairgrounds Road Church of Christ in Jefferson City. He was a graduate of Iberia High School and was employed by the Missouri Department of Corrections in Jefferson City for over 32 years as a food service cook, prior to his 1988 retirement in.

He was preceded in death by parents, Ray and Anna; wife, Margie; daughter, Diane Kay Prenger; son, Mark David Pendleton; brothers, Marvin Otis Pendleton and Charles Ernest “Ernie” Pendleton; granddaughter, Jennifer Mary Prenger; and great-granddaughter, Caylee Constance Ellis.

He is survived by son, Stephen Ray Pendleton of Jefferson City; daughter, Debra Jean “Debbie” Kreisel and husband Ricky of Centertown; son-in-law, Danny Prenger of Taos; brother, Myrl Pendleton of Iberia; and five grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.

Funeral services were held Saturday, Oct. 17, at Birmingham-Martin Funeral Home, Vienna, with Minister Brent Newton of Fairgrounds Road Church of Christ, Jefferson City, officiating. Interment was in the Union Cemetery near Iberia. Memorial contributions suggested to Fair Haven Children’s Home.
