Martha Louise Alexander, 97, of Dixon, passed away Wednesday, March 6, 2024, in the Dixon Nursing and Rehab, Dixon.

She was born Jan. 1, 1927, to Edgar and Amanda Myrtle (Vaughan) Blanton in Dixon.

She was united in marriage to James Gordon Alexander, Jan. 11, 1947, in Vienna. 

Martha was baptized early in life and was a member of First Baptist Church, Dixon. She was the first bookkeeper for Kaut, Lauma, and Winter Shoe Factory, Dixon, in 1946, worked for Durtschi MFA Insurance, Dixon, doing clerical work for 20 years.

She was preceded in death by husband, James; parents, Edgar and Amanda; sisters, infant Dorthy Magdaline Lee Blanton, and Marie Roberson; brothers-in-law; Leroy Bryan Alexander, Winston E. Alexander, John Roberson and Bobbie George Carroll; sisters-in-law, Caroline Alexander and Elizabeth Ann “Beth” Carroll; and father and mother-in-law, Walter Alexander and Alice Lea (Matthews) Alexander.

Martha is survived by daughter, Sue Hauck and husband Steve of Dixon; sons, James Alexander and wife Ellen of Columbia and Randy Alexander and wife Angie of Dixon; seven grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; and brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Gary and Debbie Alexander of Dixon.

Funeral services were held Monday, March 11, at First Baptist Church, Dixon, with Bro. Rocky Carroll and Pastor Jack Caple officiating. Interment was in Dixon Cemetery.
