Martin Bernard Bauer, 78, Brinktown, passed away Monday, Dec. 30, 2019, in Phelps Health, Rolla.

He was born March 29, 1941, to Herman P. and Celestine A. (Winkelman) Bauer, on the family farm near Brinktown.

He was united in marriage to Margaret Ann Boessen, Aug. 25, 1973, at St. Thomas.

Martin was a U.S. Army veteran and a member of Guardian Angel Catholic Church, Brinktown, the Argyle Knights of Columbus Council No. 2047 and the Vienna-Bassett Fraternal Order of the Eagles Aries No. 4340. He served as a Maries County Commissioner for several years and worked as a lime truck driver, in construction and as a cattle farmer.

He was preceded in death by parents, Herman and Celestine; wife, Margaret; and siblings, Joseph S. Bauer, Elizabeth A. Wester, Anthony G. Bauer, John C. Bauer, Agnes B. LaBruyere, Norbert J. Bauer, Ralph A. Bauer and Gertrude T. Mehlick.

He is survived by children, Matthew Bauer of Brinktown, David Bauer of Vienna and Luann Kemna and husband Larry of Jefferson City; sisters, Odilia “Dee” Kristof and husband Gale of the state of Arizona, Mary Gansmann and Theresa Koerber, both of St. Louis; and one grandchild.

A mass of Christian burial was held Friday, Jan. 3, with Rev. Matthew Flatley as celebrant. Interment was in the St. Thomas Catholic Cemetery, St. Thomas.
