Minor crash, theft of barn reported by Sheriff

On April 20, the sheriff’s office to Wildcat Road near Bland for a motor vehicle accident.  The driver, identified as Mary Skyles, 63, of Bland, lost control of her 2019 Chevrolet pickup, traveled off the roadway and struck a tree. Skyles refused medical treatment and the vehicle was towed from the scene, according to a report from Sheriff Mark A. Williams.

A deputy responded April 21 to the 2000 block of Happy Lane near Hermann for an alarm sounding. The victim, who had earlier arrived home, reported person(s) unknown had entered her home. She reported a shotgun stolen but could not provide any information regarding the stolen firearm. There are no suspects currently.

A deputy took an April 22 report from a property owner in the 3800 block of Farris Road near Owensville who said his barn was stolen sometime between April 2017 and April 2020. Someone unknown to him had taken all of the wood off his barn along with the roof. The roof was returned at some point but not the wood. There are no suspects currently. 

Two subjects were issued a verbal warning April 22 for trespassing in the 3330 block of Route P.

During an April 23 peace disturbance call in the 1700 block of Old Woolam Road near Owensville, a 32-year-old Owensville man was arrested and placed on a 12-hour hold for protective custody. He was transported to the Maries County Jail and later released without charges.
