BELLE — After less than 40 students who were in contact with a COVID-19 positive case were removed from classes Friday to self-quarantine, Superintendent Dr. Lenice Basham said they would continue learning with a “remote method.”
“There are 50 students participating (in e-learning),” said Basham on Tuesday afternoon. “We pay the cost of the full semester. The quarantine students are using a remote method.”
The classroom teachers will continue to provide instruction to students, as they plan to return to the district in two weeks.
District administrators told the Maries R-2 School Board on Aug. 25 that they have 744 students enrolled in the district, including 265 at the elementary school, 238 at the middle school and 241 at the high school.
Principal reports also revealed 106 students were enrolled in summer school throughout the district, including 28 students who earned 14 credits and several who completed cadet teaching requirements.
