Shirley Maxine Kennedy, 96, passed away Dec. 31, 2023, at Oak Pointe of Rolla.
She was born Feb. 21, 1927, to Goldie Pearl Goodwin, in Peoria, Ill.
She was united in marriage to Clarence Milton Kennedy, July 31, 1942, in Hot Springs, Ark.
Shirley accepted Christ as her Lord and Savior at New Salem Baptist Church near Dixon and later was a member of the First Baptist Church of Dixon. She was a dental assistant at Ft. Leonard Wood until retiring in 1988, after more than 25 years.
She was preceded in death by husband of 35 years, Clarence; mother, Goldie DeMoss; grandsons, Robert Eugene Glawson and Clarence Jimmy Lee Goodwin; and son-in-law, Edward York.
Shirley is survived by daughters, Barbara Ann Montgomery of Tucson, Ariz., Carole Dianne York of Dixon, Linda Lee Howell (Phillip) of Rolla and Phyllis Lynn Kennedy (Dave) of Rockaway Beach; and 12 grandchildren, 21 great-grandchildren and 14 great-great-grandchildren.
Funeral services were held Saturday, Jan. 6, in the Birmingham-Martin Funeral Home Chapel, Dixon, with Pastor Shannon Perry, Santee Community Church, Dixon officiating. Interment was in Dixon Cemetery, Dixon.
Memorials suggested to the American Cancer Society.
