Pandemic postpones Gasconade County’s annual Threshers Show

Those looking forward to the annual Gasconade County Threshers Show in July will have to wait until the fall.

That is because the Gasconade County Threshers Association (GCTA) decided to postpone the show after holding their monthly meeting on May 4.

“We’re going to look at it again during our July meeting as to whether or not we can put together a scaled-down version of a show this fall,” GCTA President Joe Hendon said. “We’re just in a wait-and-see mode of how everything will play out with the coronavirus pandemic.”

Another concern with this year’s show was the availability and cost of food.

“I was in Schnuck’s at Washington the other day and discovered they were limiting purchases on hamburger and other meat,” Hendon said. “We talked with the Rosebud Community Park Association (RCPA) and they told us they were not sure if they could get the amount of food we needed.”

Deciding to postpone the annual July show two months ahead of time has proven beneficial financially for the GCTA. “We were only out the deposit on our entertainment for July,” Hendon said. “It could’ve been much more if we had already started spending money on advertising, trophies and other expenses.”
