The Vienna Chamber of Commerce (VCOC) is looking for chamber members who are interested in taking on or continuing a leadership role as an officer on the board.
At the September chamber meeting at Checo’s in Vienna, President Donna Byington and Vice President Amber Bock said they need more member involvement with the VCOC on a board level. This includes attending monthly meetings and working at chamber events. Currently they are asking for nominations for the positions of president, vice president, secretary and treasurer. To make a nomination for yourself, contact Amber Bock via email at abock@mariescountybank.com. Indicate which officer position you are interested in. Nominations are due by Friday, Nov. 29 at 12 p.m. These will be emailed to all members to vote on them in December and the election results will be announced at the December meeting. The winning officers-elect will begin their terms as a chamber officer on Jan. 1, 2020. The officers must be a VCOC member.
Also discussed at the September meeting was alternating the monthly meetings in an effort to get more participation. Currently the meeting is held at 12 noon on the last Wednesday of the month at alternating locations. Would it be beneficial if the chamber alternated the meeting times between lunch time and evening time? They are asking for member feedback if the meetings should be alternated every other month, or if the members prefer to continue to meet at noon each month as they currently do.
The chamber officers are planning the annual Trunk or Treat for Oct. 31 hosted by G&W Foods and Checo’s in their parking lot from 5 to 7:30 p.m. Tom Eads said he and his wife will donate the candy for the chamber to hand out to the children.
A Show-Me Scholars paint night class was discussed and set for Nov. 8, hopefully at the Methodist Church, which has a nice fellowship space in the basement. They talked about having two sessions if there is a lot of participation. Trish Quist has volunteered as the painting instructor and the chamber will furnish the supplies.
Lisa Garro has taken over as the web master for the chamber’s website. She had a lot of ideas about information that could be added to the website. She also handed out a list of ideas for the chamber.
The VCOC currently has 50 members.
