VHS to celebrate homecoming Friday

Vienna High School students and alumni will celebrate homecoming this Friday night at the gym. This year’s theme is Back in Black.

The JV boys basketball game kicks off the events of the evening at 6 p.m. versus Laquey. The homecoming queen and king will be crowned at halftime between and JV and Varsity games. This year’s queen candidates are senior girls Paige Breeding, Jena Schwartze, Kamryn Hayes, Autumn Smith, and Klaire Tappel. King candidates are senior boys Dawson Wansing, Dylan Buschmann, Trent Rowden, Zach Schwartze, and Spencer Wieberg. Last year’s homecoming king and queen, Caid Stockstill and Allie Zimmer, will crown this year’s winners.

Members of the class of 2015 will be having a reunion at Moreland’s Catfish Patch. Slone Snodgrass and Seth John were the queen and king at homecoming 2015 and are expected to be present Friday night.

At halftime of the varsity game, the VHS cheerleaders will perform a routine.

The VHS Student Council is responsible for decorating at the stage and for the pep assembly on Friday afternoon. At the assembly students can enjoy a candidate game, crowd game, cheers and the band will perform.

This week students will participate in Spirit Week. Monday was Pajama Day and Tuesday was Gender Bender Day for boys to dress as girls and girls to dress as boys. Wednesday is Ugly Christmas Sweater Day for students to wear ugly sweaters to show off their Christmas spirit. Thursday is Rock of Ages Day to dress in rock n roll attire, the Friday is Black and Gold Day to dress in the black and gold school colors.

On Saturday night a homecoming dance will be held in the gym from 7 to 10 p.m.
