VIENNA — The Vichy Fire Department will host the Sixth Annual Leroy Tipton Memorial Tractor Cruise Sept. 15, 2019, at the Vichy Community Park.

Registration for the event will start at 8:30 a.m. with a mandatory safety meeting at 9 a.m. The ride will start at 9:30 a.m. sharp and cost is $15, which also includes lunch at the Vichy Firehouse and memorial button, sponsored by Rose Oak Acres of St. James.

All proceeds benefit the Vichy Volunteer Fire Department.

The 24-mile ride through Maries and Phelps counties will conclude with dinner at the firehouse.

Tractor drivers must be 16 years of age and can only carry passengers if the tractor has a buddy seat or enclosed cab. Wagons are allowed. No alcoholic beverages are allowed on the ride. Tractors should have a slow moving vehicle sign and be in good operating condition. For more information, contact Kerry Feeler at 573-578-7281 or Bonnie Prigge at 573-201-1820.

For those just wanting a good meal, fire department volunteers will be grilling whole hog sausages and serving homemade chicken and dumplings from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Sept. 15 at the firehouse. This will be served with baked beans, homemade slaw, homemade country hash browns along with a large selection of homemade desserts. Cost for the all-you-care-to-eat meal is $10 for adults, and $5 for children 5-12 and those under 5 are free. This is the department’s last fund-raising dinner of the year.

Ten percent of the dinner proceeds will be donated to Vienna Fire Dept. to help the six injured firefighters with medical expenses and lost wages. 63 Auto and Truck Parts of Vichy will be matching the fire department donation, up to $500.

The fire department is also selling raffle chances on a hand-embroidered quilt, made and donated by Wilma Tipton. The quilt is currently on display at the Maries County Bank in Vichy. Raffle tickets can be purchased at the Vichy Bank until 10 a.m. on Sept. 14. The winner of the quilt will be drawn Sept. 15 at 3:30 p.m. during the dinner.
