Vienna FCCLA seeks donations for first annual coat, canned food drive

Posted

The Vienna FCCLA is assisting the community in helping others for the holiday season. The student organization is holding a coat and can drive from Nov. 16 through Dec. 5.

FCCLA President Kennedy Eckley and Vice President Grace Weber explained that local people can drop off coats and canned food at the high school from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. week days. Gently used coats of any size are asked for. The coats will be donated to the Salvation Army and the canned food will go to the Maries R-1 Giving Tree that supplies food for the holiday to needy families in the R-1 school district.

When bringing items to the high school, touch the security button outside the front door and set down the items as the high school secretary will come and retrieve them.

This is the first year the FCCLA has sponsored the coat and can drive and the students say they would like to make it an annual event.
