Beginning Monday, Feb. 3 through Tuesday, Feb. 25, the Vienna NHS chapter will be holding the annual Pennies for Patients, a fundraiser for Leukemia Cancer Patients. Every classroom in the school district will receive a box for donations. The elementary classrooms will compete against each other, junior high against themselves, and high school classes against high school classes. Elementary students will drop off their donations to their homeroom teachers, junior high, and high school students to their sponsor’s classroom. The winning class from each section of the school district will receive a reward that will be determined at a later date.
The NHS chapter asks the community to donate a little bit of loose change to a student at Maries R-1 student to give to the drive. We will have a donation box during the blood drive on Feb. 19, so persons who give to both can help not only a person in need of blood, but one also one with Leukemia.
