Phyllis L. Copeland, 72, of Vienna, was killed Sunday afternoon in a one-vehicle accident at Westphalia that also sent her husband, Bobbie F. Copeland, to University Hospital in Columbia with serious injuries.
The Missouri Highway Patrol reported that the 2002 Toyota Highlander driven by Bobbie Copeland was southbound on Hwy. 63, just north of CR 511, when it traveled off the side of the road at 4:18 p.m., struck a metal post and overturned, striking another metal post and finally stopping when it hit a building owned by C&H Trailers.
Bobbie Copeland was airlifted to University Hospital by Phelps Air, and Phyllis Copeland, who was pronounced dead at the scene by Deputy Coroner Mike Thomas, was taken to Morton’s Family Chapel in Linn.
The Highway Patrol was assisted at the scene by the Osage County Sheriff’s Office and the Maries County Sheriff’s Office, along with crews from Osage Ambulance District.
