Posted

Thanks to another early round of winter weather, Vienna’s Lady Eagles will start their week at the Tipton Girls Basketball Tournament tonight (Wednesday) instead Monday as originally scheduled.

For Vienna’s Eagles last night (Tuesday) in Tipton, it was a rematch of their season opener from a week ago against Chamois’ Pirates.

Posting a 48-40 victory over the Osage County swashbucklers, Vienna advances to the championship semifinals tomorrow (Thursday) night to face the top-seeded Tipton Cardinals at 7:30 p.m., at Tipton High School.

New Bloomfield and Smithton will make up the other semifinal at 9 p.m., in Tipton with the winners facing off in the championship game on Saturday, Dec. 1 at 7:30 p.m., and the losing going at it for third place also on Saturday at 4:30 p.m.

Vienna’s Lady Eagles will start their quest for tournament hardware in Tipton tonight (Wednesday) as the fifth seed taking on fourth-seeded Smithton at 6 p.m., at Tipton High School (THS).

A win would keep them at THS  tomorrow (Thursday) for the championship semifinals while a loss would send them to St. Andrew’s School and the consolation semifinals.

Updated brackets from both tournaments in Tipton can  be seed on this page.

While Vienna is competing in tournament action at Tipton, Evin Farris’ Belle Lady Tigers are off of U.S. 54 at the Eugene Lady Eagle Invitational Tournament.

Opening pool play last night (Tuesday) against Tuscumbia’s Lady Lions, Belle tamed their opponents to the tune of a 65-46 victory.

Other Tuesday pool play saw top-seeded Eugene edge St. Elizabeth 40-38.

Monday pool games in Eugene saw St. Elizabeth defeat Calvary Lutheran 51-41 while Tuscumbia held off Linn 39-34.

Pool play will conclude tonight (Wednesday) in Eugene starting at 6 p.m., with Eugene taking on Calvary Lutheran followed by a Highway 89 showdown between Belle’s Lady Tigers and Linn’s Lady Wildcats at 7:30 p.m.

If Belle and Eugene both win tonight, they would face off in the championship game of the Eugene Tournament on Saturday, Dec. 1 at 6 p.m., in Cole County.

That would set up the third-place game between St. Elizabeth and Tuscumbia at 8 p.m., on Friday, Nov. 30 along with a consolation championship showdown between Linn and Calvary Lutheran also on Friday at 5 p.m.

Following the Eugene Tournament, Belle’s Lady Tigers will travel down to Phelps County to face Newburg’s Lady Wolves on Monday, Dec. 3 with a 6 p.m., tip off.

After the Tipton Tournament, Vienna’s girls will go to Linn on Monday, Dec. 3 while the boys travel to Calvary Lutheran on Tuesday, Dec. 4 both at 6 p.m.
