Willard Eugene Weider, 75, Freeburg, passed away Wednesday, Sept. 23, 2020, in the Capital Region Medical Center, Jefferson City, after a two-year battle with lung cancer.
He was born Nov. 17, 1944, to Lawrence Joseph and Agnes Jane (Thompson) Weider, near Dixon in Maries County.
He was united in marriage to Leona Frances Holtmeyer, July 1, 1977, at Vienna.
Willard was a member of and employed by Carpenters Union 945, Jefferson City and St. Louis, in construction. He had also been employed by Scholastic, Inc., Jefferson City, for five years prior to his failing health.
He was preceded in death by daughter, Pattie Marie Lutman; parents, Lawrence and Agnes; brother, Lawrence Roger Weider; sisters, Judy Jane Eads and Karen Kay McCormack; and grandchildren, Jeremiah Holtmeyer, Kaitlyn Sueann Pruitt and Matthew Jacob Louis Weider.
He is survived by wife, Leona, of the home; children, Linda Kay Anderson and husband Troy of Shawnee, Okla., William Joseph Weider and wife Robin of Holts Summit, Lisa Ann Muniz of Holts Summit, Richard Louis Weider of Freeburg, Tammy Sue Madlock of Jefferson City, Gerald Wayne Weider and wife Gail of Vienna, James Weider and wife Lisa of Argyle, Larry Weider and wife Amy of Dixon and Pamela Kay Weider of Mexico; brother, Walter Weider and wife Janet of Vienna; and 27 grandchildren; 25 great-grandchildren.
A celebration of life was held Sunday, Sept. 27, at the Freeburg Lion’s Field in Freeburg with tributes and prayers by Fr. Bill Debo and John Henry Kliendienst.
