William “Frank” Franklin Henley, 84, of Bland, passed away Thursday, Dec. 21, 2023, at his residence.

He was born April 26, 1939, to Tom and Wes (Mason) Henley in St. Louis.

He was united in marriage to Mary (Cathy) Hartigan, April 3, 1965, in Fairmount City, Ill.

Frank served his country with the U.S. Army from 1962–64. He coached girls’ softball for over 40 years including three years at East Central College.

Frank was a proud truck driver for 29 years with the Local 600 Teamsters. He drove a truck with companies Freight Express, LoCurico Produce, King Motors and Hartlage Trucking.

He was an avid sports fan, but most importantly, he wanted to be a part of whatever activity or event his grandchildren and great-grandchildren were participating in.

Later in life, Frank enjoyed watching cowboy movies on GRIT and you can be sure he would quiz anyone who stopped by to test their knowledge of who the actors were.

He was preceded in death by parents, Tom and Wes; and siblings, John, Terry, and Lillian Henley.

He is survived by wife, Mary of their home; son, Daniel Henley and wife Lisa of Blairstown; daughters, Kelly Bridges and husband Mark of Leslie and Amanda McMullin and husband Kenny of Bland; grandchildren, Joey, Jason, Nick and wife Aricka, Kayla and husband Eric, Robert, Kyra, Kenny Jr. and significant other Shawntel, Rachel and husband Curtis, Holly and husband Blake, Zane and fiancé Makayla and Joleta; and 13 great-grandchildren Chris, Olivia, Riley, Oliver, Anthony, William, Andrew, Aidan, Brady, Jenna, Colton, Porter, and Rowdy.

Funeral services were held Wednesday, Dec. 27, at Gottenstroeter Funeral Home in Owensville with Rev. Joseph Smith officiating. Burial was in Countryside Memorial Gardens with full military honors.
