BHS Golf tops Lions, Hornets,Wildcats during Monday home tournament

Defend the home course.

That was the goal Monday afternoon for John Viehland’s Belle High School golf team Monday afternoon at Pine Ridge Golf Course.

Placing four of their five golfers in the top 10 individually, the host Tigers finished with a team score of 211 ahead of Calvary Lutheran’s Lions (219), Laquey’s Hornets (223) and Licking’s Wildcats (228).

Lion golfer Micah Christman led the field with a nine-hole low score of 44 just four strokes ahead of Belle’s Myles Butler who carded a second-place round of 48.

Laquey’s JD Bowling placed third with a round of 49 followed by a fourth-place tie between Sam Willis (Belle) and Rosten Stockard (Licking) who both carded rounds of 51.

Laquey grabbed the next two spots in the top 10 with Hayden Alley shooting a 53 for sixth place and Donavan Mathis taking seventh with a 54.

Tying for eighth place with rounds of 55 were the Calvary Lutheran duo Natalie Sommerer and Sam Sellars.

Rounding out the top 10 in a tie for 10th place were the Belle duo of Baylar Smith and Avery Craigmiles with rounds of 56.

Callen Taylor rounded out Belle’s contingency of varsity golfers with a round of 63 good for 16th place individually.

Additional scores from Belle golfers competing on their home course included Dru Honse (57), Ty Honse (61), Cash Lacey (61), Samarcus Anderson (63), Colton Pace (64) and Jon Valley (67).

Viehland’s golfing Tigers will compete in the third of three Gasconade Valley Conference (GVC) Tournaments tomorrow (Thursday) at Cuba Lakes Golf Course beginning at 9 a.m., in Crawford County.
